Cabinets are done!

Yay. Finally finished painting my cabinets. For my first attempt I really love how they came out. Of course I see all my mistakes but I’m really okay with them.

BeforeAfter

I used an old shutter as a valance and attached a faux roman shade that I saw on Pinterest (impartinggrace.com) to it.  I love the way it came out!

Homemade Peanut Butter

Tomorrow is the day! I’m hoping to get my kitchen cabinets finished. Today, however, I tried making my own peanut butter. Thanks to the post from loveveggiesandyoga.com I was inspired to give it a go. She made it sound so easy…it was! I couldn’t find a big bag of shelled peanuts and the closest Trader Joes is a trek but I did find a huge bag of peanuts in the shell. I figured “how hard could it be…”. Well it took close to 2 hours to shell enough peanuts for a small jar of peanut butter but it was worth it. Yummy!

Autumn Mantle

I have been so inspired by all of the post on Pinterest about fall decorating. So many have posted uses for old frames, which I happened to have several of. This is my fall mantle created by using my old … Continue reading

Progressing with the cabinets…yay!

This weekend was a whirlwind! I got so much done. Saturday I mowed the lawn and took out the second of two bushes in my front yard that I hated. I had been wanting to get rid of them for some time. My neighbor has some beautiful tall grasses growing in her yard and she has agreed to split them in the next couple of weeks. I’m hoping to transplant them where there are now bare spots in my frontyard landscape. I’ll keep you posted on that.
We also found out that we are going to have another grandbaby! I’m so excited. My youngest daughter and her new husband are expecting their first child on May 12, 2013. I’m going on record and predicting a boy…our first grandson 🙂
Okay…on Sunday I painted another section of the cabinets. This time it seemed to go a little quicker. I’ll be so glad when it’s all done. I’m posting another teaser picture but am waiting until it’s all done for the big reveal. Next weekend I hope to finish this project and move on to building a table I saw on Pinterest. I want to have that done before Thanksgiving.

Setting priorities

Augh. It has been two weeks since I last worked on painting my cabinets. Last weekend we had a yardsale so that took up my Saturday and Sunday I spent a beautiful day with my husband in DE. I can’t work on them during the week because I watch my granddaughters. Today was going to be the day to at least knock off another section but I find there are other things that I want and need to do more. I have to take my car to the dealership this morning for an oil change, I want to go to the local farmers market with my daughter and my youngest daughter wants to get together for lunch. I also want to decorate the house for the fall. So many things to do, so little time. I am giving myself today to play and setting my sights on tomorrow for the painting. I guess it’s all about finding balance right 🙂

Aside

Can I just say that I love Pinterest!  What a great idea.  I wish I had thought of it.  Hmmm…even if I had I probably wouldn’t have done anything about it.  That’s the problem.  Great ideas but to afraid to … Continue reading
